• If they are a member of an appraisal body, such as the National Council of Jewellery Valuers (NCJV).
• The level of membership that they have with this valuer’s body.
  
• How often they renew their skills through ongoing courses.
• Where their specialities lie, such as in exotic metals, gems, or diamonds.
• If they a full time valuer or a jewellery store owner that occasionally valuates diamonds.
• Whether they are independent or hold association with an insurance provider.
